Difference Between Sexes

Why are men and women so different? Why do we think so differently from one another and seem to live in completely different worlds most of the time? Some will say that some differences between the sexes are actually between thinkers and feelers (most men are T's and most women are F's).

Some people said that the answer lies in biology-- the way males and females are constructed, that is the difference between the male and female brain. Researchers explained how the embryonic brain is shaped as either male or female at about six weeks, when the male fetus begins producing hormones that organize its brain's neural networks into a male pattern and in their absence, the brain will be female. Not surprisingly, there are endless variations in degree of maleness, and mishaps can lead to a male brain in a female body and vice versa.

Searching findings may demonstrate how these differences make men more aggressive and competitive at skills that require spatial ability and mathematical reasoning, while women more sensitive and better to nuances of expression and gesture, more adept at judging character, and are more people-oriented than men, who are more interested in things.

Apart from it, it is necessary remember how different sexes includes their respective advantages. It also means that we need accept who we are; denying gender differences may means ignoring their value.

Panopticon

The term "panopticon" was a name suggested by Jeremy Bentham. In a prison built with modern architecture, the panopticon is the central observing tower where guards can see continuously inside cells which surround the panopticon. This was a new method of surveillance in the modern prison which enable persistence control. This constant gaze controls of the prisoners affecting not only what they do but how they see themselves. This method replaced the use of a dungeon and dark cell to control the prisoner.

This image alos serves as a metaphor used by Michel Foucault for the power of governmentality in the modern state. Thus panopticon is method used by the modern state to execute and regulate continuously its control of society. Unlike the monarchical state, which uses brute force to control its subjects, the 'democratic' state uses sophisticated coercion to perform this function.

Keep Walking

Many people are working very hard to build a better life and better world. So please, I am telling myself, do the best too here. When there are gloomy sketches outside, there is still great news awaiting.

I murmured to myself, do the best, give this life best contribution. Instead of sitting idle, keep walking and improving things. The next show will be at stage and great things just could happen!

Tones of a Text

I read Winder, Reading The Text's Mind. He described tones of a text. Hmmm, does a text really has a tone in it? If so, what are the tones of a text? When we read, we may certainly be conscious of much more than we actually use in our reading. A letter may be blotched, the spacing of the text may vary, a higher proportion of G's may be found in one passage, a sequence of words may have a particular rhythm. These we may perceive, but may choose to ignore, or not, when we read. Carmina figurata --visual patterns made with text-- are good example of how unique qualities can be found.

How about text on computer screen like this before my eyes now (that is units of electronic text that are composed of electronic characters which are so uniform)? Even in the more abstract medium of that electronic text, where the basic tone units are the set of ASCII characters, the possible number of tones is infinite, since even the shortest passage can be taken as the source of a combinatorial explosion which places it at the centre of an infinitely expanding cloud of associated patterns. However, the tones of a text are defined as those qualities that we do indeed wish to consider as fundamental and unanalysable. For example, in many texts we consider alphanumeric characters as unanalysable; we will not analyse them into the bars and curves, or distinguish them according to their pitch in proportional spacing. Hmmm, now I can see how characters combined in such way and performed as tones of a text.

WritingThis Blog

I think it's time to write a blog. I’m not trying to philosophize, I just think there are things so dear that I need to write down them here. Sure, I begin asking myself why-s and what-s about this blogging, but techincally speaking, I think I would seek the answers later. Now I just want to be a strange submarine in a strange deep sea, and I keep on diving deep down, propelling my self, and whispering tiny words to my friends beside me. So I decide to blog.

There are things I see, think and hear in my daily life. Are those moments precious enough as miracle? I dunno. I just feel that I have opportunity to experience. Happiness, sorrow, laugh, cry, are only attributes, aren’t they? I can not deny the sun that always shines there in the sky, the breath which I take, and the birds that sing there (hei, I can hear them from my window every morning). And I love to talk about many things to experience with friends all over the world.

Is life always something to plan or something to remember? However, I am living, now and here And that’s great enough to think about that. (Thank God). There are many things to talk about. Strange and rare books, exotic musics, old temples in my hometown, the story of men and women I never heard, etc. But I know, life is really far more than that things. Life is something both ordinary and odd. And IMHO, it’s nice to talk about this life.

Think Different

Quite often in any fields of learning we are taught one method of solution for each particular type of problem. It looks as if there is one true way for reaching it.

However, it is proven sometimes a problem can only be solved by approaching it from a very different angle. After repeating our sole true method many times, and proving it to be unsuccessful, maybe it’s time to step a new different way to reach the destination.

If we are flexible in our approach to problem solving and attack the problem from different angles, abandoning unsuccessful method, then the greater chance we will have of solving it. Different way may offers greater chance to reach the same goal.
